When I used to host Strive Not to Drive events or Walk to School Days, someone would always say, "I live too far to bike/walk to school" or something like that. That is a common misconception. The movement and idea is not solely about walking or biking to your destinations. The idea is to adjust single occupancy passengers on trips.
So what does that look like in a practical sense?
- It looks like carpooling to a destination with neighbors/friends.
- It looks like taking Asheville Regional Transport (the bus).
- It looks like parking at the Ingles on Haywood Road and then walking the final two blocks to school instead of waiting in traffic on Haywood
